Best Indoor Rock Climbing Gloves

Indoor Rock Climbing Gloves

I first got into rock climbing when I was in Scouts. As a sport and a past time I find it exceptionally beneficial to both the mind and the body. Growing up in England meant that it was raining more often than not, and obviously it is not advisable to climb in the pouring rain so much. Being so keen at the time I couldn’t wait for the clear skies so as I wasn’t too far from a leisure complex, I got more into Indoor Rock Climbing and things have been that way ever since.

After shoes, having the right pair of gloves is a key aspect to any ascender’s apparel. With so much athletic gear out there these days in can be hard to choose the right pair of gloves, especially for the budding rock climber just starting out. In this article we are going to be engaging the subject our top 5 best gloves for indoor climbing, to assist you in purchasing the right indoor climbing gloves for you.

What are some of the most importing things to consider when looking for the right pair of gloves?

There a several factors that need to be considered when choosing the best indoor rock climbing gloves: size, material, breathability, comfort, durability and grip. As the old saying goes they need to “fit like a glove” so make sure you know your hand size if you are ordering online and can’t physically try them on. In order to find out your size you need to measure your hand with a flexible tape measure from the centre of your palm, all the way around behind the palm and back to the initial centre point again.

Next up is the material, which ultimately affects the breathability/comfort of the gloves as well – sweaty, uncomfortable, slippery hands are far from welcome when climbing. The durability of the gloves is another point to be considered as you don’t want your new pair of gloves disintegrating on you before you reach the end of your ascent.

The final item to be taken into account is the freedom of movement and grip that the gloves provide you, your fingers need to be able to bend and flex freely when climbing with indoor wall holds.

So now we are going to look at our list of top 5 indoor rock climbing gloves. We will highlight the key factors and benefits, as well as providing the Pros and Cons of each pair of gloves.
