OutdoorMaster Ski Goggles

When it comes to heart-pounding outdoor activity nothing quite matches the thrill of carving up powder snow on the ski slope. Weaving through the pure white of a mountain’s slopes at high speed requires gear that has been specifically manufactured to suit the needs of every level of skier or snowboarder.

Given the threat of glare and high UV levels, one of the most important pieces of equipment on any family skiing holiday are the snow goggles.

It can often be difficult to discern the difference between a good pair of ski goggles and a great pair of ski goggles. Colossal discrepancies in both price and quality can make it tricky to decide which goggles best compliment your ability.

Having scanned the web for a brand that creates goggles that are both affordable and of a good quality, I encountered OutdoorMaster.

OutdoorMaster are a company that was founded by a group of friends united by a passion for all things adventure in the great outdoors. Their mission is to create equipment that matches premium quality but without the extortionate prices.

Having purchased and sampled the following collection of OutdoorMaster ski goggles, I decided to outline what made this brand really stand out as a manufacturer of truly brilliant ski goggles.

How to Choose the best OutdoorMaster ski goggles

When it comes to choosing the right pair of ski goggles the buyer has to take numerous factors into consideration. The potential issues facing skiers and snowboarders include snow glare, lens fogging and staying comfortable during a day on the slopes.

Here is a short list of what to consider before buying a pair of OutdoorMaster skiing goggles:

  • OTG Design: The frame size and lens shape of OutdoorMaster OTG goggles are specified so that they can be worn with glasses underneath. This allows for greater clarity for those with vision impairments.
  • Lens Features: OutdoorMaster ski goggle lenses are all equipped with anti-fog features and excellent optical clarity. This feature ensures great visibility whilst skiing and snowboarding.
  • UV Protection: All OutdoorMaster goggles have UV400 Protection, making sure that your eyes and face are protected from harmful UV rays created by glare from the snow. The high altitudes when skiing increase the intensity of UV rays, making safe UV protection essential.
  • Universal Helmet Compatibility: The adjustability of the elastic straps mean that the goggles can fit any helmet size. It also simultaneously allows most goggles to be worn by adults and children.
  • Materials: The goggle frames are made from Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), which is soft, meaning extra comfort as well as safety in the event of a crash. The lens itself is made from moulded Polycarbonates (PC) with a UV coating for extra protection.
  • Comfort: All goggles are built with comfort in mind. The materials used and innovative designs allow for a full day of skiing or snowboarding without any discomfort.

Top 3 OutdoorMaster ski goggles for adults and children

The following list outlines the benefits of each of the OutdoorMaster ski goggles that I sampled during my time on the slopes. All three pairs are absolutely brilliant but each has its own particular benefits, so it is important to choose the right pair for you.

1: OutdoorMaster OTG Ski Goggles – Excellent all-round option

OutdoorMaster OTG Ski Goggles are a brilliant example of a product that masters all the basic components of any great ski goggle. Suitable for both adults and kids, the goggles’ frame shape and over-the-glasses design combine style with practicality.

Anti-fog technology and UV protection assure the wearer a clear lens and protection from bright conditions including snow glare. The adjustable elastic strap makes the goggles compatible and very comfortable with all ski helmet types, which is extremely helpful. These snow goggles are also available in a variety of different colors.

The key benefit of the OutdoorMaster OTG Ski Goggles is the dual layer lens technology. This brilliant feature prevents fogging whilst skiing and snowboarding and ensures fantastic clarity, which allows you to see any potential obstacles on the slopes before its too late! It is also sure to improve your views of the awe-inspiring scenery of the surrounding mountains.

Key features:

  • Lens Size: 7 inches (W) x 3.6 inches (H)
  • Lens Material: Injection Molded Polycarbonate + UV coating
  • Frame Material: Bendable TPU

Pros and cons:

  • Crystal clear visibility with great UV protection.
  • Can be used by both children and adults.
  • Comfortably worn with glasses underneath.

  • Lens not interchangeable.

💡 These ski goggles proved to be a great option that covered all the necessary basics extremely well. They are extremely comfortable, adjustable and offer a clear view of the mountain’s slopes. Best of all in my opinion is the anti-fog feature, which provides a mist-free time on the slopes, even when skiing for hours on end.

2: OutdoorMaster Meander Ski Goggles – Stylish alternative goggles with interchangeable lenses

The OutdoorMaster Meander Ski Goggles trades a classic spherical lens design for an eye-catching mirror-coated, cylindrical shape. These goggles are also a great option for adults or older children, as well as fitting with all ski helmet sizes.

As with all OutdoorMaster ski goggles, the multi-layered lens is fitted with an anti-fog layer and a UV coating and adjustable VLT levels to help keep your views of the ski slope as clear as possible. An extra feature of these goggles that I appreciated is the no-slip silicone on the strap, ensuring that it didn’t slip off my helmet whilst skiing.

Whilst the snazzy cylindrical design is certainly going to make you stand out on the slopes – particularly with the option to quickly switch lenses using the magnetic system – the shape also provides a functional purpose too. Due to its wide lens shape, the skier’s field of view is increased. This in turn allows for even greater views of the spectacular scenery on offer.

Key features:

  • Weight: 4.9 ounces
  • Lens Size: 7.3 x 4.1 inches (WxH) (18.5 x 10.4 cm)
  • Protection: 100% UV400
  • Lens Material: Injection Molded Polycarbonate + UV coating
  • Frame Material: Bendable TPU

 Pros and cons:

  • Wide-screen-like field of view.
  • Easily personalized using lens change system.
  • Anti-fogging ventilation system.

  • A little too large for smaller children.

💡 The OutdoorMaster Meander Ski Goggles are an excellent ski goggle option if you want to stand out on the slopes. The garish, mirror-like lens is sure to turn heads. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the lenses themselves are interchangeable adding an element of personalization to my outfits on each day.

3: OutdoorMaster Kids Ski Goggles – Perfect ski goggles for children.

These children’s snow goggles are made using the same dual-layer lenses used throughout the OutdoorMaster ski goggle range. OutdoorMaster Kids Ski Goggles have a robust yet flexible TPU frame, which ensures ease of movement through its malleability.

The 100% UV protection used by all OutdoorMaster ski goggles along with the anti-fog technology ensure the greatest level of safety that a pair of goggles can offer your child. The OTG design makes them also usable for children who need prescription glasses.

Key features:

  • Lens Size: 6.7 inches (W) x 3.5 inches (H) x 3.2 inches (D)
  • Weight: 3.88 ounces (110g)
  • Lens Material: Injection Molded Polycarbonate + UV coating
  • Frame Material: Bendable TPU

Pros and cons:

  • UV protection and anti-fog technology help keep children safer.
  • Available in a number of different colorful designs.
  • Can be worn by children of all ages.

  • Lenses are not interchangeable.

💡 Invariably colorful and undeniably comfortable, the OutdoorMaster Kids Ski Goggles are lightweight and can be worn with any size of children’s ski helmet. Overall they are a brilliant and safe option for your children, available at a very reasonable price.

What does VLT stand for?

VLT stands for Visual Light Transmission. The vast majority of snow goggles on the market offer 100% UV protection, but they vary in terms of VLT. VLT is listed by manufacturers as a percentage. Therefore it is typically considered better to wear a lower VLT on a clear day and a higher VLT on a gloomy day. However, it is far from necessary to change your goggles according to the weather.

These are listed as “over the glasses” designs. Should I still wear them if I do not wear glasses?

The OTG design means that there is room fro glasses to be worn underneath but these aren’t designed to specifically cater for those with glasses. I do not wear glasses yet the two adult models above still fit perfectly and were extremely comfortable.

Are these ski goggles for men or women?

The ski goggles are all unisex, meaning that they can be worn by anyone, regardless of gender. As well as this, they each come in a variety of designs and colors, meaning that the right pair can be chosen to suit the tastes of each skier/snowboarder.

Do the adult goggles fit on a child?

The adult goggles can be worn by children but aren’t recommended for younger children. The OutdoorMaster Meander Ski Goggles in particular can look rather big on the face of a small child.

Each of the three pairs of goggles had all the essentials for a ski trip, but each also has their own individual benefits. Weather you are looking for a simple pair to cover all the basics or something more eye-catching, one of the above is sure to fit the bill.
